1. Who we are

SleepPool ("we," "us") operates the SleepPool mobile app, a skill-based accountability app where you set a personal sleep goal, optionally stake money on hitting it, and your own sleep data verifies the result. This policy covers the app and this website.

2. Information we collect

• Account information: your name and email address, used to create your account, sign you in, and contact you. Authentication is handled by our provider, Clerk.
• Sleep and health data: the amount of time you slept, read from your device's health layer (Apple HealthKit) only after you grant explicit permission. We read only the sleep data needed to verify the goals of pools you join. We do not read other health data.
• Payment information: when you stake money or receive a payout, payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects and stores your card or bank details; we never see or store full card numbers. We store non-sensitive records such as transaction amounts, statuses, and Stripe identifiers needed to run pools and payouts.
• Pool and activity data: the pools you create or join, your goals, results, stakes, and payout history.
• Device and technical data: a push-notification token (if you enable notifications), app version, and basic diagnostic information used to keep the app working and secure.
• Support and communications: messages you send us.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to: run pools and verify sleep goals; process stakes, payouts, and refunds; prevent fraud and abuse; send notifications you've enabled; provide support; comply with legal and tax obligations; and improve the app. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Health data (Apple HealthKit)

Your sleep data is used solely to verify your participation in pools you choose to join. In accordance with Apple's requirements, HealthKit data is never used for advertising or marketing, is never sold, and is never shared with third parties for advertising or data-mining. You can revoke SleepPool's access to health data at any time in your device's Settings, and you can use the app without staking or joining paid pools.

5. Service providers we share data with

We share limited data with trusted providers only to operate SleepPool, under their own security and privacy obligations:

• Clerk - account sign-in and identity.
• Stripe - payment processing, stake collection, and payouts, including identity verification required by law to send you money.
• Cloudinary - hosting images you upload (such as pool cover photos or a profile picture).
• Neon - secure database hosting for your account and pool data.
• Expo - delivering push notifications and app updates.
• Apple - the HealthKit framework that provides your sleep data on your device.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to run pools, meet legal, tax, and anti-fraud obligations, and resolve disputes. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data, except records we are legally required to retain (for example, certain financial transaction records).

7. Your choices and rights

• Delete your account and data at any time from within the app (Settings), or by emailing us.
• Revoke health access at any time in your device Settings.
• Manage notifications in the app or your device Settings.
• Access or correct your information by contacting us.

8. Eligibility and age

SleepPool is intended for adults (18 and older) and is not directed to children. Paid pools may be unavailable in certain locations due to local rules. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and reputable service providers to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and limit access to it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as SleepPool evolves. We'll revise the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide notice in the app or by email.
